The PNE Group (www.pne.org) was recently commissioned by One NorthEast to identify the perceived and actual barriers to greater Third Sector engagement in the physical regeneration of deprived areas.

Places For Everyone

Following the publication of our Third Sector and Physical Regeneration in Deprived Communities report, we are currently exploring the idea of facilitating a series of workshops that will help support anyone in the Third Sector who is considering:

• Refurbishment / Redevelopment of existing buildings
• Construction of new buildings on brownfield or greenfield sites

The proposed workshops will guide participants through the key stages of any Capital Development project and will be delivered in association with award winning Newcastle-based practice Mosedale Gillatt Architects (www.mgarchitects.info).

Although exact details are yet to be finalised, the suggested format for the workshops will guide participants through the following five key stages:

Stage 1 - Identifying a need and how/whether to proceed

Stage 2 - Funding and designing your building project

Stage 3 - Detailed design and getting ready to build

Stage 4 - Works on site and moving in

Stage 5 - Managing your development
