Free Support for Community, Voluntary and Charity groups: Become a ‘Digital Champion’

We are now entering a new phase of digital technology and many everyday activities such as shopping, entertainment and socialising are rapidly developing on-line.   Our ability to access important services and play an active role in our communities increasingly depends upon our confidence with new digital technology.   But as digital technology grows, there are still some who are missing out on exciting opportunities, this is where ‘Digital Champions’ can bridge the gap.

You don’t need to have extensive skills in Digital Creative Media just be passionate about learning and passing these skills to others in your group.   We will support your development through a number of means; firstly through an accredited course called ‘Preparing to Teach in the Life Long Learning Sector’ giving you the skills and confidence needed to teach others.  Then you will have a wide choice of modules in a number of Digital and Creative Media subjects.  Our support doesn’t stop here, we will carry on supporting you for as long as you need us.

Our long term goal for the ‘Digital Champions’ are supported and empowered community leaders, who will play an active role in tackling the digital divide within their own groups, which in turn who knows, may lead to inspire the next generation of film makers, animators or even web designers!

If you think you would like to become a ‘Digital Champion’ and you live or work in the North East Region we would like to hear from you.  To indicate your interests please contact Carmen Thompson on 01642 384567 or email Carmen.thompson@tees.ac.uk.

The Institute of Digital Innovation is an innovation connector.   Innovation connectors ‘connect’ business, place and people to science and innovation, bringing the region’s research institutions and centres of excellence closer to business and local communities.
