National Occupational Standards (NOS) - Working in the voluntary and community youth sector

National Occupational Standards for youth work, describing the knowledge and skills needed to perform jobs in this area, are now available from the National Council for Voluntary Youth Services web site www.ncvys.org.uk

NCVYS has created a Careers Guide: Highlighting careers in the voluntary and community youth sector - aimed predominantly at young people considering working in what is in fact a very diverse sector and provides individuals with a vast array of job roles and opportunities. Hard copy versions of the careers guide are also available at subsidised rates.

One of the career areas on offer is youth work and NCVYS has also published information sheets entitled Introduction to youth work and getting started and Qualifications in youth work.
