Clare Tickell of Action for Children and Graham Wynne of the RSPB among recipients
The chief executives of the RSPB and Action for Children top the New Year Honours list for the voluntary sector.
Clare Tickell of Action for Children is made a dame. She was voted most admired chief executive in Third Sector's Britain's Most Admired Charity awards in 2008.
Graham Wynne of the RSPB receives a knighthood, as does Erich Reich, chairman of the Kindertransport Group of the Association of Jewish Refugees.
David Barrie, former director of the Art Fund, receives a CBE along with Helen Dent, chief executive of Family Action and Imelda Redmond, chief executive of Carers UK.
Among recipients of an OBE are Mary Craig, chief executive of Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland, Frances Crook, director of Howard League for Penal Reform, Lucy Gampell, former director of Action for Prisoners' Families, Stephanie Hilborne, chief executive of the Wildlife Trusts and John Kingston, founder and director of social lender Venturesome.
Jeanne Kaniuk, head of adoption services at the Coram Foundation, also receives an OBE, as does Nigel Kershaw, chief executive of Big Issue Invest and David Wood, chief executive of Attend.
