Media Trust offers grants for digital media projects

Community Voices programme will fund charities that help isolated people access digital media

The Media Trust has opened a new £250,000 grants programme to fund charities that run digital media projects for people from disadvantaged and isolated communities.

The fund is part of the charity's Community Voices project, a two-year, England-wide project funded by the Communities and Local Government department and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.

It will give out 26 grants worth between £1,500 and £14,000 each, as well as one grant of £61,000.

Gavin Sheppard, marketing and communications services director at the Media Trust, said: "We are extremely excited to begin the process of allocating grants to communities where a fully interactive and inclusive digital project could have a real impact on the lives of individuals and on the wider communities in which they live."

The closing date for applications is 28 February.

The trust has already been giving out grants of £500 to projects that support disadvantaged and isolated communities through digital media as part of the Community Voices programme.
